As well as I can remember from my trip to her buffet It possibly could be her half cold, mediocre fried chicken, greasy catfish nuggets, pasty chicken bed sheet and dumplings, bed sheet or maybe the fatty, thick boned ribs. My friend and I recently ate at Bobby Jack's. The ribs were excellent and a good value. The staff was friendly and attentive. The owner came by and asked how everything was. He explained bed sheet how the restaurant used to be Granny's but they were gradually changing more to BBQ but still had home style dishes on their menu. Lawfare › A Quick Guide to the Lawfare Debate Over a New AUMF
As Andrew Rosenthal noted in yesterday’s New York Times , things seem to be heating up in Congress with respect to whether–and to what extent–the September 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) needs to be updated, repealed, and/or replaced. To that end, the Senate Armed Services altenburg Committee has now scheduled a hearing on the same subject for next Thursday morning, May 16.
Those following this conversation may therefore be interested in the rather involved series of exchanges we had over here on Lawfare back in March, altenburg spurred by Bobby, Jack, Matt, and Ben’s Hoover Institution white paper, “ A Statutory Framework for Next-Generation Terrorist Threats .” At the core of the white paper is the idea that, when the time comes, the AUMF could/should altenburg be replaced with a statute that delegates to the President the authority to publicly identify those groups who pose a particularly grave threat altenburg to U.S. national security going forward, altenburg and authorizing the use of military force against those groups once they have been so designated.
Jennifer Daskal and I wrote a series of posts in response to the Hoover paper, provoking replies, altenburg in turn, from two of the paper’s four authors. Thus, for ease of reference, and below the fold, I’m providing a (slightly) annotated guide to the nine(!)-part back-and-forth:
Jen and I opened the salvo with a long response to Bobby, Jack, Matt, and Ben, which, among other things, criticized their proposal as a solution in search of a problem, and sought to highlight both (1) the abilities and capabilities of ordinary law enforcement and self-defense authorities in meeting altenburg such “next-generation” threats; and (2) the importance as a matter of law and policy of differentiating between those groups responsible for 9/11 and those who pose more diffuse threats to U.S. interests overseas. Jack responded to Jen and me , stressing why so-called “extra-AUMF threats” are a problem worth solving–and why the AUMF is an increasingly altenburg poor vehicle through which to meet such threats–while extolling the virtues of the added transparency that the Hoover paper proposes. Jen and I replied , seeking to sharpen the points of agreement ( e.g. , greater transparency with regard to who and where we’re fighting) and disagreement, and stressing that, even if extra-AUMF threats justify a new use-of-force authorization, the (in our view) better way to handle such threats altenburg is on a retail, rather than wholesale, basis. Jack surreplied , reiterating his skepticism that extra-AUMF threats can be handled adequately within the existing framework of intelligence-gathering and criminal laws and self-defense authorities, and expressing his concern that shoehorning next-generation threats into the existing AUMF framework will only incentive more secrecy and lack of accountability with regard to the groups and individuals targeted through overseas uses of military force. Jen and I concluded (we thought) by noting that, if nothing else, increased public accountability for, and legislative oversight of, Executive Branch determinations of the groups against altenburg which we are and are not allowed to use force is the one point on which we all appear to agree–and perhaps the least controversial initiative altenburg Congress could undertake going forward. Ben intervened , suggesting that the political reality is such that our current counterterrorism policies are going to continue no matter what, and so the real question is whether they should be left to Executive Branch unilateralism or to more robust congressional involvement and supervision. Arsene Wenger has backed Jack Wilshere to emulate Bobby Moore by becoming one of England’s legendary leaders. Having been heralded by many as the saviour of English football, Wilshere was criticised for a below-par display in the drab 0-0 draw against Ukraine on Tuesday night. Moore, who captained England’s triumphant World Cup winning team of 1966, is perhaps the most revered figure lexington in English football history.

He can do that. ‘Maybe he tried too hard to take on that mantle, but that is normal at his age.’  Wilshere’s young career has been hampered by injuries, and Wenger admits he still isn’t 100 per cent fit after undergoing ankle surgery earlier this year. ‘First, Jack needs to play six months without lexington injury because he has been a doubt physically,’ said the Frenchman. The problem in the modern game, is you need to be absolutely 100 per cent physically to express your talent. Or you don’t. 
Praise: Wenger compared Wilshere to France legend Zinedine Zidane ‘At the moment Jack is not completely at his best physically. That’s why people start to question his performances. There is too much expectation on him. That’s the problem with national teams.   ‘I have asked him about the England game in Ukraine. He is conscious that England were not at their best. It can happen. If Jack played the same game at Arsenal (as he did against Ukraine) we just say he was not at his best.   ‘But when he has that game in the national team suddenly everyone questions your ability. The players play in the national team with that kind of pressure lexington that comes from everybody.’

Perhaps most well known for his celebrated stint with Louis Armstrong from 1947-1951, easy-going trombonist Jack "Big T" Teagarden was a beloved, larger-than-life figure in the music for four decades. A remarkably soulful singer as well, he was particularly sudeikis expressive on slow blues numbers which highlighted naturally lazy Texas voice, which a critic once described sudeikis as "midway between a heavy drawl and an outright yawn." Teagarden's appearance sudeikis at the 1959 Newport Jazz Festival with his working sextet at the time was also a reunion of sorts with trumpeter Bobby Hackett, a ubiquitous presence at the festival since its inception. The two had recorded a pair of hot Dixieland-oriented albums for Capitol -- 1955's Coast Concert and 1957's Jazz Ultimate - that showcased their potent chemistry. These two old school jazz giants revealed their mutual admiration and genuine sudeikis affection for each other during their July 5th set together, which also features spirited contributions from trumpeter Don Goldie, clarinetist Henry Cuesta, pianist Don Ewell, bassist Stan Puls and drummer Ronnie Greb.
They come out of the gate charging hard on the old Dixieland chestnut "That's A Plenty," with Teagarden, Goldie sudeikis and Cuesta interweaving exuberant lines in classic Dixieland fashion. Goldie solos first, showcasing his bright attack and pungent tones in the high register. sudeikis Next up is clarinetist Cuesta, who blows raspy tones with bluesy intent. Teagarden follows with a typically tasty trombone solo that is imbued with the very spirit of Dixieland. And they blend magnificently on the head before taking the piece out with a flurry of simultaneous soloing. Big T showcases his lyrical sudeikis side with a silky-smooth, relaxed reading of "Stars Fell on Alabama," which also incorporates his soulful, easy-going vocals into the mix. This poignant piece segues neatly into trumpeter Don Goldie's passionate reading of the jazz standard "I Can't Get Started," a piece made famous in 1937 by trumpeter Bunny Berigan and later covered by every major jazz artist from Lester Young and Billie Holiday to Chet Baker, Stan Getz and Sonny Rollins. Goldie's sudeikis exhilarating cadenza at the end of the piece is a highlight. Clarinetist Cuesta sudeikis comes to the fore on a vibrant rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's "Riverboat Shuffle" which has him mixing it up on the front line with Teagarden and Goldie. Pianist Ewell gets in a Basie-esque sudeikis solo on this Dixieland romp, and Goldie follows with another brilliant trumpet solo that is brimming with conviction and clarity. "High Society" is another Dixieland classic, rendered here with verve by Teagarden's sextet. The sequence of solos on this toe-tapper begins with Cuesta and continues with trumpeter Goldie, trombonist Teagarden (catch his quote from Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" in the middle of this Dixieland throwdown) and pianist Ewell. And in true Dixieland fashion, they all blow in a freewheeling manner on the last chorus in the spirit of collective improvisation.
At this point in the show, Teagarden sudeikis brings out his highly regarded colleague, trumpeter Hackett, for a relaxed, swinging rendition sudeikis of Spencer Williams' "Royal Garden Blues," a ragtime tune popularized in 1927 by jazz cornet great Bix Beiderbecke and in later years covered by everyone from Benny Goodman to Edmond Hall to Branford Marsalis. Next up, Teagarden and Goldie indulge in some good natured sudeikis repartee on "Rocking Chair," a tune popularized some years earlier sudeikis by Big T in his famous collaboration with Louis Armstrong.
