On 4th I had the opportunity deep pocket sheets to attend a literary deep pocket sheets encounter w

It's four o'clock in Longbourn, the home of the Bennett Herdfordshire. While the famous characters of Pride and Prejudice sleep peacefully, Sarah and Polly, the two young girls, they start working under the old Mrs. Hill, the cook. All have spent years repeating the same routine, but know that life is about more than just getting to and from rags, pans and brooms. Sarah is the one who most want to risk, and its small and routine world finally changed the day that James Smith, a new servant, comes to Longbourn dragging with him a past full of secrets and a future where there is the freedom. Suddenly, basements and attics of the mansion come alive, and behind the aprons and uniforms creatures discover they have much to tell. While Bennett sisters sleep ... finally speak his servants, and worth listening to.
On 4th I had the opportunity deep pocket sheets to attend a literary deep pocket sheets encounter with Jo Baker, author of Shadows of Longbourn, organized by publisher Lumen. The event took place in a nice bookstore downtown Madrid called "Women". There the author told us about his book, how he conceived the idea of making this tribute to Jane Austen on the 200th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice, and what I wanted to tell her story. I found a pretty nice and close, with the same elegance as his book shows, and even the logical language barrier was a problem, because the interpreter, Isabel Ozores, which I already knew from a previous literary encounter, deep pocket sheets he knew make the conversation was very fluid and enjoyable for all. Bloggers that there we were able to ask questions and at the end, we talked in the same library with the heads of the publisher, which, as always, got us feel very comfortable at all times.
I have to admit that until now I had decided deep pocket sheets to read some contemporary novels that have been published in the wake of "Jane Austen universe." Is an author so dear to me, I've always thought that any contemporary sequel would disappoint. Neither time travel or reading groups organized on their behalf, no crimes or zombies deep pocket sheets ... None of this interested me.
But this time it is a topic that attracts me, as is that of the servants deep pocket sheets of the English mansions, the style of the series "Upstairs, Downstairs" and "Downton Abbey". So I set out to read this novel with great interest and with the feeling deep pocket sheets I was going to spend pleasant hours in his company.
The starting point is very interesting, Jane Austen's world seen from a different perspective. We entered into the house of the sisters Bennett of Pride and Prejudice wonderful, but in the area where they live and work the maids and servants in the house. But this novel does not tell the story that is narrated in the Jane Austen classic, but offers us another story, with their own dramas, romances and concerns. The author brings to these anonymous people to the fore, and gives them their own life.
The main character is Sarah, collection girl in a hospice Mrs. Hill, the housekeeper, and taken to the home of the Bennett at Longbourn, to work as a maid. It has the same age as the Bennett sisters but, unlike them, he has no hope that a husband allowed deep pocket sheets out of their situation and that things vary in the future. His life takes a monotone doing laundry to get chilblains, emptying bedpans or burning your fingers when curling hair with tongs Bennett girls, until, suddenly, he meets two men, a new servant who comes home to work and mulatto servant neighboring Bingley house. And your life will change unexpectedly.
Longbourn
In this type of novel is never referred to the work a bit sordid and unpleasant service personnel at the time, and Jo Baker think you need to be known and valued as they deserve, so that the novel has added an element of interest by showing how those sites were so ungrateful.
The author also takes to make a social critique of the customs of the time, but in an elegant and subtle. Furthermore, the novel has a feminist background and protest the role of women in society.
It is a novel that entertains, and much, but not inconsequential. It is imaginative, intelligent, smart and respectful. Also reaches the heart. To this we add that has characters with Sparkle
